Concerned Locals Fighting for Transparency and Environmental Safety

Our Community Is at Risk

The lithium-ion battery fire at Moss Landing, operated by Vistra Corporation, has left our community with more questions than answers. We’re deeply concerned about the potential impact on:

  • Our Water: Are harmful chemicals leaching into our groundwater?

  • Local Agriculture: How might this affect the crops and livestock that sustain us?

  • Our Families: Are our children breathing in toxic fumes?

We refuse to wait for corporate or government assurances. Our community deserves independent environmental testing to uncover the truth and protect our health, our livelihoods, and our future.

We need volunteers for the following (and this will likely expand)

  • Documenting and archiving current and ongoing symptoms reported by people, as well as any medical documentation they want to provide

  • Someone to research and contact local testing facilities and colleges with environmental testing capabilities

  • Someone to track all events and add them to an events page on this site

  • Someone to archive and publish all testing results

  • Someone to set up (or collaborate with an existing non profit) for using donations to pay for environmental testing services

  • Someone to start setting up a class action lawsuit on behalf of either the environment, farm owners, farm workers, locals, etc.

  • Someone to set up a donations page to pay for environmental testing services AND NOTHING ELSE

  • A filmmaker to document this for a potential documentary

  • Any other suggestions??

Update

We are working on a donation page to collect funding for independent testing for water and soil (the most essential things for safety for us as locals, our kids, and our farm workers), as well as resources for testing, and lab results, and a newsletter.

Why Independent Testing Matters

Vistra has promised transparency, but we’ve seen too many examples where communities like ours were left to bear the burden of unchecked industrial negligence. We need unbiased experts to:

  • Test air, soil, and water for hazardous chemicals.

  • Assess potential long-term health risks.

  • Ensure the safety of our agricultural ecosystem.

Without independent testing, our concerns may be dismissed, and the true scope of this disaster may never come to light.

Our Goals

We are a coalition of concerned locals, families, and farmers, working together to:

  1. Secure Funding for independent environmental testing.

  2. Raise Awareness about the potential dangers of lithium-ion battery fires.

  3. Hold Corporations Accountable for the damage caused to our community.

  4. Protect Our Future by advocating for stronger environmental safeguards.

How You Can Help

We can’t do this alone. Your support is critical to ensuring the safety of our community. Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate: Contribute to our fund for independent testing. Every dollar brings us closer to the truth.

  • Spread the Word: Share our story with friends, family, and social media to increase awareness.

  • Volunteer: Help us organize community events, distribute flyers, and build momentum.
